The JCTA endorsement in this race means big money for the candidate, but just about the only thing I agree with Chris Fell about is that I wouldn't want it. A school board candidate should represent the interests of the students first, parents second, and teachers third. And from rumors and discussions with some teachers, it's not even clear that the current JCTA leadership truly represents the wishes of its membership. Add to that JCTA's support of a candidate in the last School Board race who apparently didn't even live in the district and knew little about the district, and I can understand why former leaders question the actions of the group, especially since Bell apparently has been cleared of wrongdoing.
That said, I wouldn't vote for Marty Bell. The board needs a parent, not a former administrator.
